$ Luna Aurora Imagine Mini Acoustic Guitar Black

Bought this guitar for my 7 year old and she loves it! It's the perfect size for her and being able to create her own designs with the included markers is a very nice bonus. Had a but of an issue keeping it in tune but tightened the screws which seems to have helped. The carrying case is also very nice and has a pocket for her guitar picks.

I wish it had a strap, but I'm sure if it bothers you enough you could add one with a bit of effort.

    Now on to music lessons!

    @# Motorola RAZR2 V9 Phone AT T

I purchased my razr2 less than a year ago (about 8 months to be exact)and I LOVED it when I first purchased it. Now that I have been using it for a while I have started to hate it. It has so many dropped calls it is ridiculous, and not only does the phone drop the call, it also turns itself off so that you have to turn it back on, wait for it to reload and then call the person back. I have also noticed that even though i have never exposed my phone to any kind of moisture or water, the dot on the back of the phone has started changing color as it would if it had been exposed to water damage... The battery life on this phone is a complete joke! I hate the fact that if you are on a call, and press the speaker phone button, you cannot close the phone and stay on the call.. if you close the phone it will hang up, even if speaker phone is active (which is a step down from the original razr, on it you could close the phone and still talk) this also reduces battery life. AT&T would not insure the phone when i originally purchased it, not sure if they offer insurance on it now, but either way i cannot get insurance b/c i've had it for 8 months. If I could go back to when I purchased this phone, I would not purchase it and get an original razr instead.

$ Creative Labs Vado HD Pocket Video Camcorder 3rd Generation 120 Minutes White NEWEST MODEL

I own both a 3rd generation Creative Labs Vado HD and 2nd generation Flip MinoHD so this is my review and comparison of the two side by side.

    *Size / Weight Comparison*

The Flip and the Vado are almost identical in size. The only difference is that the flip is about a quarter inch longer and the Vado is about a quarter inch wider. Both camcorders seem to weigh just about the same. The screen size of both camcorders is exactly 2 inches, which is measured diagonally.

    *Accessories Included*

Neither the Flip or the Vado come with a charging cable that allow you to charge them by plugging them into any outlet however you can charge them by plugging them into any USB port whether it by on your PC, PS3 or even your TV if it has USB ports on it.

Neither the Flip or the Vado come with the HDMI connector that is needed to play video on your TV. You will need to purchase the connector separately but both the Flip and the Vado have HDMI output on them so you can plug the HDMI connector right into them and plug in the other end to your TV for quick and easy viewing.

The Flip comes with a carry pouch that that will keep it nice and clean and might keep it from getting scratched but it will not protect it from damage due to falling or moisture. The Vado doesn't come with a case at all.

    *Recording Time / Battery Life*

Both have recording time of 120 minutes. The Flip has a built-in internal battery that can't be changed. This could be a bad thing if the battery goes bad the whole camcorder is no good. The Vado has a removable battery that can be replaced if needed. The Vado seems to hold a charge much better than the Flip as well. I noticed that both were fully charged and stored for about 1 week and the Vado still has a full charge but the Flip has about 2/3 charge left.

    *Picture Quality*

Both offer high resolution 720p and the picture quality is impressive. Both lack any compensation to adjust for hand movement. There is only a slight difference in the picture quality between the Flip and the Vado. The Flip seems to have a slightly brighter and more brilliant picture.

    *Tripod Mount*

Both have the option to be mounted to a tripod

I love both the Vado and the Flip and it would be difficult to pick a favorite. The performance of both is very similar, they have mostly the same options and they are usually about the same price. I like the physical appearance of the Flip better than the Vado. I like the video software better that comes with the Vado than the Flip. My only problem with the Flip is that you can't replace the battery if it goes bad.

I would feel very comfortable recommending either the Vado or the Flip to anyone at this point. If my opinion changes in the future then I will update my review.

!$ Canon PIXMA MP160 All In One Photo Printer Gray

Recently purchased this multi-purpose printer. Actually was a purchase to replace in-kind

printer which experienced mechanical damage. Only negative aspect of the original MP-160 was, in my opinion, the ink cartridge replacement costs. I find Canon cartride replacements, very expensive. Not much experience, with printer ink, but found sources to buy remanufactured cartridges and ultimately, a re-fill mail center, whcih reduced the ink costs in half.

The original MP-160 was destroyed by an pen falling into the paper feed, and unaware ot this incident, I attempted to operate the unit and caused mechanical damage. I ordered an

exact replacement (used) and am quite satisfied with my purchase. My printing requirements are small and am not certain what the reliability and efficiency of this particular printer would be under heavy service; but as an average consumer, I could recommend this unit to all.

-- Pentax DA 40mm f 2.8 Ultra Compact Lens for Pentax and Samsung Digital SLR Cameras

I had already been using the Pentax SMC DA* Series 50-135mm f/2.8 ED IF SDM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Pentax and Digital SLR Cameras and Pentax SMC DA* Series 16-50mm f/2.8 ED AL IF SDM Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras lenses regularly when I purchased the DA 40. I had a little bit of experience with the FA 50, but didn't really like it much, due to lack of contrast. I thought there was no way that I would become a "prime shooter."

Well, this lens changed that. It is tiny, easy to handle hold, even with one hand, incredibly sharp. Even though it is not very long, it can be used as a portrait lens. It has great edge to edge sharpness and amazing micro contrast. Build is very sturdy.

The two quibbles I have with this lens are that it only goes to f2.8 and that the screw on lens cap could be easily lost. I have put away my screw on cap and purchased a Adorama 30.5mm Plastic Snap-On Lens Capto replace it.

This is the perfect walk-around lens to turn you from a zoom shooter into a prime shooter!

#@: Sigma 24 60mm f 2.8 EX DG IF Aspherical Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

I have owned this lens for several years and have shot 1000s of photos with it. I really wanted the Canon 24-70mm L lens, but the price was out of the question for me. I ultimately selected this lens because I had read good reviews and I was willing to trade 10mm of focal length for a more compact size, as this was to be my walk around lens. It does weigh more than my Rebel XT, but that doesn't bother me, as it is smaller than the other lenses in its class (Canon & Sigma 24-70mm 2.8, Tamron 28-70 2.8). I have worked with the Canon 24-70mm L, and the Sigma 24-60mm's image quality is remarkably close, if not equal, for a third party lens that costs much less. The autofocus speed is where the real difference occurs, but if you don't work in low light or need a lot of speed, it shouldn't be a problem. You can shoot almost anything with this versatile lens and it will look good (I've shot mostly still life and outdoors), but I think it's really well suited to portraits. If I'm taking pictures at a gathering with this lens, my people pictures always blow everyone else's away. I would reccomend this lens to anyone who wants L quality on a budget and isn't concerned with the slower AF. You won't be disappointed.

This CD of meditations is so inspirational, moving and beautiful to listen to. Some of them moved me to tears. If ever you need to be grounded, or reminded of what matters in life, listen to this CD. If your beliefs are in line with native beliefs, this CD will be very comforting to you. You will not be disappointed!

    Native American Meditations Overview

The words of Black Elk, Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Tecumseh, Chief Joseph and many other historical and contemporary Native American teachers, leaders, writers and holy people as spoken by descendents and family relations.

Completely performed and recorded in the sacred Black Hills by Lakota, Navajo, Cherokee, Oglala, Chumash and other Native Americans, these profound meditations with contemplative tribal music will help you to connect to Mother Earth and your two-legged, four-legged, winged and finned brothers and sisters.

    How to learn music

Those with sufficient interest in learning music, and spent some time working on learning all the basics of music. If the expressive qualities and technical complexity of the strip by the music, you are left with little more than mere muscle memory and visual understanding .

At a fundamental level, music can be divided into so-called keys. The key of a song to determine where the notes are the staff, the five lines iscan make notes on, upwards or downwards. The keys are the basic ups and downs. Virtually every musical instrument has been written for one of two keys. Others I do not like Tenor Clefs and Alt key is available but not very often in modern music.

Notes that employees seem to represent musical tones and lengths. In terms of sound, a note has three core values: flat, natural and sharp. These concern the tone of the note. The three awards related tothe other more or less as it seems real estate is a pitch lower than a natural, strong, stronger than a flat pitch and, of course, of course, is exactly in the middle. A piece of music is a key signature key. The tone provides the music throughout the notes will be flat, natural and sharp.

The length of the notes may, depending on the time of signature of the music. The majority of modern music can be interrupted at 3-4 beatPattern. A piece of music is divided into individual shares. A measure is a comprehensive beat and may consist of degrees, stand, or both. A remainder refers to a period of no music is played. Breaks have to do different lengths, as the notes.

Tempo and dynamics are two other factors that relate to some fundamental concepts of music. Peace will be played at the speed of a song and dynamics refers to the volume of music. In order toIdea of rhythm, you think of The Star Spangled Banner. This song has a rhythm that is slow and medium size. While the music may have a lot of pace, this can also speed up or slow down the pace, depending on the particular piece of music. How do tempo, the dynamics of music will be at a certain level of volume that can be harder or softer to Depending on the particular piece of music. Typically, a piece of music includes notations that kind of time and dynamics are used to dictate. AMany of these names are in languages like Italian and Spanish, so that some basic research of musical terminology, may be necessary to write to understand them.

There you have it - the basics of music, to the point. Think of music as a language. The basic elements of music can be a bit 'of time, effort and interest, of course, be recorded. Beyond the basics of music is yours.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Review

Ten years ago, STAR WARS came back in the form of THE PHANTOM MENACE. And I was one of the first to go out and purchase the eagerly awaited soundtrack by John Williams.

Needless to say I was in awe! Even after I saw the movie and was subsequently disappointed, I was still enamored by this music. Although "Duel of the Fates" felt a little out of place in the Star Wars universe (don't get me wrong, it's an awesome piece of music), it eventually grew on me, especially after getting incorporated into the succeeding prequel scores, ATTACK OF THE CLONES and REVENGE OF THE SITH.

I still think the soundtrack would have been improved if John Williams had used more of the Tatooine themes from A NEW HOPE (perhaps excerpts from "Binary Sunset" or "Mos Eisley Spaceport").

But after ten years, it's much more Star Wars-ish to me now than it once was. It's still a fun musical adventure, full of excitement and wonder.

Par for the course for John Williams.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Overview

The Star Wars cycle, George Lucas's stellar pop parable cum merchandising blitzkrieg, has long since made history as an unparalleled cinematic-cultural-marketing phenomena; somewhere Billy Jack should be in one envious, ass-kickin' mood. Phantom Menace, easily the most eagerly anticipated film of the '90s, returns to the saga's roots and allows Lucas to flesh out the history of some of the fable's core characters and conjure up a dazzling new cast of cohorts, antagonists, and alien realms for them to interact with and in. Thus, all composer John Williams had to do was essentially reinvent the world's most popular wheel. The film-scoring legend has admirably risen to that daunting challenge, delivering an inventive score whose dynamics should surprise and delight even the most ardent SW fanatic. The Main Title and a few oh-so-sparing bars of a familiar Jedi theme are all that remains from the original trilogy's lexicon, Williams having evolved the saga's musical language, stylistic reach, and orchestral palette with masterful subtlety. The composer's most ambitious surprise is the welcome addition of strong choral elements, which he uses in ways both majestic ("Duel of the Fates") and menacing ("Passage Through the Planet's Core"). And though the film revolves around a young boy (Anakin Skywalker, who will grow to be both corrupted and redeemed as Darth Vader), the only flirtation with cloying sentimentality comes with the innocently loping "Jar Jar's Introduction." In the tradition of the Cantina and Max Rebo's Band of the previous trilogy, Williams and Lucas close out this musical installment with "Augie's Municipal Band," a Carnivale-esque romp that segues grandly into the composer's swelling title music. Williams may be the master of a grand scoring tradition, but Phantom Menace is gratifying evidence that he seldom plays it safe--even when the Force is with him. --Jerry McCulley

    How to read music

Able to read music is as it seems difficult and complex as can be studied with any new concept, but when we put out efforts to make at least the basics of reading music, notes intricate sense at last.

The first thing is to know the staff. The staff is composed of five lines and four spaces are formed, these spaces and the lines are, where we will record our notes. The first symbol is written on the staff: theClef. The two most commonly used keys are the treble clef, also known as G-key and the bass clef, also known as F-key.

The G-key for most of the items used most of the music and stringed instruments, woodwind and brass high, while the key to a step down to lower instruments used.

The icon of the day bears the signature of time. The number above the signature determines the number of beats in a measure - a measure the space between two bars orvertical lines of the staff, now the number of funds is determined in a time of signature, what kind of note gets a beat.

For example, if the number of first three, then, that three shots are the measure. If the number of fund is four, so the quarter note receives one count.

The third point is the notes and rests. This is one of the most important parts of learning to read like notes, and you need to become familiar with various types and values of the notes. We note all l ', all the note with a bar that is attached to the note a half, half note with a filled circle as a quarter note, quarter note with a tail is eighth, while the fourth piece of paper with the deque is a sixteenth.

The fourth is the concept musical is based, any remainder of the notes that correspond to the values we discussed earlier.

We have the basis of recognized> Notation, but more still needs to learn to read music, you should begin to grasp the basic timing of the shots, other musical symbols such as stop and tie, and the organization and the volume of the music. The latter three parts: the volume of notes, symbols, notes and symbols that affect the speed of the notes.

With all this background, we can now begin the practice of reading these pages of music!

    The music is social

If one of the main reasons why we play music with other musicians or enjoy an audience, because we need to ask the students (particularly) young children, but in practice all the time? The music is fundamentally social and students more motivated to practice when the music teacher helps the students as part of the social music experience.

For example, there is always jam session. Students getting together to play and for each other regularlyhelps students to interact with other musicians adults. The informal session will feel like the more social, rather than a formal representation. For example, the teacher could have students play duets, trios and rounds with the other. A jam session could also be an opportunity to teach folk music to be heard.

Another way is to provide students with a social experience with the music to a friend, who is with the lessons. IfGive a half hour to an hour, two students, one could really take the time, and any harm twenty minutes of instruction and then spend twenty minutes on the music of the two can play together.

Often, you can have two students attending the same school. Perhaps the students can meet after school to make music together, play reinforces the most important musical skills to play with other people and are very motivating.

If aParent or other family member listen, then play that music in the classroom. A parent who plays the guitar by ear can accompany folk tunes, so are great to set a good tone and intonation. It is helpful if parents something different from the students, so that the sessions are working better than formal social parents, practical guide to play.

Create a small group of students and positions that can be found playing. If you have a group of students who playFolkways are many nursing homes and retirement centers host their shows.

Couple to an older student with a student younger, as a fellow of practice, once thought of living the association of students who are close to each other. There's nothing like the ability to help a person learn about it. Older students will be to strengthen their capacities. Younger children respond well to an old friend.

All these ideas need time and organization, but if they become part of your practiceas parents, music teacher are the benefits of fasting and probably will be willing to pay a small amount more for their children to get involved. Your students will be more musicians who are motivated, their instruments because of the advantage that you play the social nature of music.

Music & Intelligence: Will Listening to Music Make You Smarter?

Want to listen to music is more intelligent? They want to learn a musical instrument make your brain grow larger than a normal game?

Questions like these have been published around the world in recent years, and not just in scientific journals do not.

In recent times has been supporting research on brain development and music, eagerly reporting on the latest studies to the delight of music-loving parents fascinated the youngChildren.

But all this information - and some misinformation too - has led to a general confusion about the role of music and musical education for the development of the human brain. The bottom line is this: If you are confused by all that reading, studying music and brain development, you're not safe alone.

In part this is due to the way in which the phrase "the Mozart effect," spread by the media and bandied about to describe a situation herethe music has a positive effect on cognition and behavior.

In fact the Mozart Effect refers specifically to the finding of research since 1993 Frances Rauscher, Gordon Shaw and Katherine Ky and published in the prestigious journal Nature. The researchers found that 36 students listened to 10 minutes of a Mozart sonata performed higher on a territory next task longer time after listening to relaxation instructions or silence.

An enchanted media reported thisinteresting research as "Mozart makes smart" - a huge over-simplification of the original results.

Rauscher, as explained in a later paper, the Mozart Effect was studied only in adults, lasted only a few minutes and was found only for spatial-temporal reasoning. However, the finding has since launched an industry, books, CDs and Web sites have claimed that listening to classical music can make children smarter contains.

The scientific controversy - notmention the popular confusion - surrounding the Mozart Effect, has given rise to a corresponding confusion for parents. They wonder: "If my children take care of education with the music?"

In fact, the answer to this question is still a resounding yes, since numerous studies show that the study of music not only contributes to the positive development of the human brain. Other researchers have since replicated the original 1993 with the finding that listening to Mozartimproves spatial thinking. It showed further investigation Rauscher and her colleagues in 1994 that, after eight months of keyboard lessons, preschoolers increased by 46% in their spatial reasoning IQ, an important skill for a certain kind of mathematical reasoning to demonstrated fact.

In particular, it was first musical training, which bears the majority of connections between nerve cells in the brain and perhaps stimulate the creation of new routes to appear. But research shows, musicEducation is more than a casual relationship for the long term development of some parts of the brain.

In 1994 Discover magazine published an article which discussed research by Gottfried Schlaug, Herman Steinmetz and their colleagues at the University of Dusseldorf. The group compared magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brains of 27 classically trained right-hand male piano or strings, with those of 27 non-musicians right hand men.

Interestingly, they foundthat - in the musicians' planum temporal - a brain structure associated with auditory processing was greater in the left hemisphere and smaller in the right than the non-musicians. The musicians also had a nerve fiber tube thickness between the hemisphere. The differences are particularly striking among musicians who began training before the age of seven years.

After studying music Shlaug also promotes the growth of the corpus callosum, a sort of bridge between the two hemispheresbrain. He noted that not covered by the musicians who started their training before the age of seven years, 10-15% of the corpus callosum is thicker than that of a musician.

The mirror image of time, Schlaug and other researchers have shown that increased corpus callosum might improve motor control by speeding up communication between the hemispheres.

Since then, a study by Dartmouth music psychologist Petr Janata published by Science in 2002, confirmed that the music calls for increased connectivitybetween the left brain and right hemisphere and between the areas responsible for emotion and memory, than almost any other stimulus.

Janata led a team of scientists who reported some areas of the brain are 5% larger in expert musicians than in people with little or no musical training, and that the auditory cortex in professional musicians is 130% denser than the non - musicians. In fact, among musicians who began his musical training in early childhood, the corpus callosum,four-inch bundle of nerve fibers connecting the left and right side of the brain that can take up to 15% larger.

Although it is now clear from research studies, the region of the brain, connectivity and functionality of certain types of spatial reasoning is improved by music training, it is increasingly clear that detailed and skilled motor movements are improved .

Apparently the bar of musicians is essential for activities such as coordination of the fingers. As a weight-lifter biceps, theexpand this part of the brain in order to accommodate the increased participation of its destination.

In a study conducted by Dr. Timo Krings and reported in Neuroscience Letters 2000, pianists and composers were not the same age and sex were required to perform complex sequences of finger movements. The non-musicians were able to perform the movements as accurately as the pianists, but less activity was detected in the brains of pianists. "Researchers have found that, compared to non-musicians, brainPianists are more efficient, skilled movements.

The study of music definitely affects the human brain and its development, a considerable amount of possibilities. But what do the research, particularly in view of the decision on how best to study music and appreciation for yourself or your children?

An article in 2000 by NM Weinberger in Music Research Notes makes the following excellent point: Although the Mozart effect may not be up tounjustified hopes of the public, has led to a widespread interest in finding music to the public. And listening to ten minutes of Mozart, somebody might be interested to hear more music unknown, opening new perspectives.

Regardless of the hype surrounding the Mozart Effect, the overall picture has not been scientifically proven to study music as a tool of fundamental help brain development.

At the University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco, Dr. FrankWilson says his research shows, instrumental practice, promotes coordination, concentration and memory and also brings on improving eyesight and hearing. His studies have shown that participation will be developed in music and connects the motor systems of the brain, refining the entire neurological system in ways that are not carried by other activities. Dr. Wilson goes so far as to say he believes music is actually 'necessary' for the overall development ofBrain.

So the bottom line is this: to study music and practice probably does not help brain development in several important respects. And after all, if you like the music, there's nothing to lose by trying to win everything!

Christmas Sheet Music - Learn To Play Silent Night With Guitar Tablature

You can learn to play the popular Christmas carol "Silent Night" on your guitar, even if you look at the master. They will use guitar tablature that will show you to set where your finger!

    What is the guitar tab!

It 'a way to show how to play a tune on the guitar without musical notation. Instead, the points will play the chords and keys to use to use. Guitar tablature routinely used a stick with six linesthe six strings.

In this guitar lesson you will only see numbers. I noticed that the staff notation distorted pages article may therefore be the following notation is safer. Are normal guitar tablature notation you can find on my website capotastomusic.

As mentioned above, the carol "Silent Night" is a popular song, and you'll find scores of this song and other Christmas carols from around the Internet. It 'hard to find Easy Guitar Tab notation for these types of songs. WeFirst look at the text of the first modern English verse.

    Silent Night, Holy Night

All is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin Mother and Child

Holy Child so tender and sweet

You will now learn the melody with the guitar one line at a time with the help of tablature for guitar. Let's begin:

    Silent Night, Holy Night

    0 / 3 2 / 3 0 / 3 2 / 4 0 / 3 2 / 3 0 / 3 2 / 4

0 / 3 means that you play the third string without pressing a bunch. 2 / 3 tells you to pressthe second button on the top rope. In other words, says the number before the bar of the federal government to the press and the right of the bar indicating the string to play.

Continue with your melody guitar tablature:

All is calm, all is bright

    3 / 2 3 / 2 0 / 2 1 / 2 1 / 2 0 / 3

Fingers of the left hand should you use?

Of course, you can use your index finger all the notes. However, I recommend you have the melody in a way that will prepare your fingersmore difficult for the pieces of music in the near future.

This means that the fingering to play all the notes on the first fret with your index finger to indicate the second key with the middle finger and the notes on the third button with the ring finger.

The advantage is that you can keep your hand in the same position as you play, it will be easier to navigate and if you were fingering you used to be able to play songs faster, if thisrequired.

The disadvantage is that it feels uncomfortable at first to play that way. Often, the ring finger may have a difficult time obeying your commands. My advice is to hang in there and your fingers get used to the new tasks on the keyboard of the guitar.

Here are the notes of the next guitar tab:

Round yon virgin Mother and Child

    2 / 3 2 / 3 1 / 2 0 / 2 2 / 3 0 / 3 2 / 3 0 / 3 2 / 4

The next line of the lyrics have an identical set of notes guitar tablature:

    Holy Child of raceslight

    2 / 3 2 / 3 1 / 2 0 / 2 2 / 3 0 / 3 2 / 3 0 / 3 2 / 4

Incidentally, you can use your right thumb to get the notes! Here's the next line:

    Sleep in heavenly peace

    3 / 2 3 / 2 1 / 1 3 / 2 0 / 2 1 / 2 0 / 1

And here is the Ultimate Guitar tab:

    Sleep in heavenly peace

    1 / 2 0 / 3 2 / 4 0 / 3 3 / 4 0 / 4 3 / 5

I advise you to memorize the melody one line at a time. The tab notation is only a means to help you find the notes. Learning tunes from the heart to give you a growingRepertoire of songs to play when you see around a guitar.

    Contemporary Folk Music Journey

    Contemporary Folk Music Journey Review

We're pleased that Wounded Bird Records has re-released "The Ship" after all these years and done such a good job on the audio. This album will always be special for us, as it was the beginning for a group of young guys who became lifelong friends through our music. I had just turned twenty years old when we traveled out to Elektra Studios to record "The Ship" and in many ways, we grew up together over the next few years, traveling around the country in a beat up Chevy van and playing concerts. Not quite as glamorous as sailing the seas on a beautiful boat, but it was, for the most part, an awful lot of fun.
The group still manages to get together once a year or so to play and it's still as much fun as it was back in the beginning. Visit us at [...] for information about the band, past and present, including three additional CDs of our music with around 40 previously unreleased cuts that sat untouched for better than 30 years in boxes in a basement.

....and just like in the old days....if I want a copy to send to my mom and dad, I have to buy it myself. Some things about the record business never change......

    Enjoy,
    T.B.

    Contemporary Folk Music Journey Overview

First time on CD for this long-lost 1972 Folk album. The Ship issued just this one album on Elektra Records. It was a concept album, a truly "Contemporary Folk Music Journey". The songs on this album flow together smoothly as if it was one master presentation. Original copies of this long-coveted album have been a collector's item... whenever you can find it! 11 tracks

    Let My Children Hear Music

Let My Children Hear Music Review

Even if you disagree with Mingus' assessment of this as his greatest recording, the musical evidence is sufficiently compelling to make you respect the composer's judgment. Mingus was a larger-than-life figure and dreamer of Faustian proportions, though his projects frequently fell short of realizing their maker's designs. In some respects, he's remarkably similar to the filmmaking genius, Orson Welles (and not only in terms of artistic vision). After the controversy and commercial failure of "Citizen Kane," Welles was largely sentenced to pursuing his Promethean ambitions with self-financed films on shoe-string budgets that simply could not conceal their frequently ragged, unpolished production values.

Recent recordings like Mingus' UCLA and Cornell concerts often show much of the same disparity between the artist's lofty conceptions and inadequate resources for implementation of them (in terms of money, time, personnel, promotional agents, circulation channels). But with the help of arranger Sy Johnson, Mingus came closer than ever to realizing the "grand design" in "Let My Children Hear Music," which amounts to a literal and fitting "valedictory" by the composer-bassist-leader. Call the music portentous and pretentious: it IS. Romantics, dreamers, visionaries, idealists always ARE. And lest there be any doubt, the liner notes quoting Mingus on the project are practically a jeremiad on the state of art and culture in the late 20th century.

Like Welles, William Blake, Shelley, Pound and perhaps all under-appreciated or ignored geniuses, Mingus was a true "maverick" (quite unlike the Presidential candidate who claims the title because he disagreed with his commander-in-chief 10% of the time), distancing himself from liberal revolutionaries as much as conservative stand-patters. As his program notes make clear, Mingus wanted to liberate listeners by opening their ears not just to the music of the present but to the brilliant compositional structures of the past. He was at once "progressive" and "conservative," intensely committed to conserving the best music by insisting that it be heard amidst the frequent noise of the present.

"Let My Children Hear Music" is Mingus writ large (if that's possible), music that's more absorbing compositionally than some of the earlier recordings of these same works. If there's a deficiency to the music, it's ironically the comparative absence of the normally irrepressible Mingus himself. The program opens with a thrilling "Shoes of the Fisherman's Wife" that practically recalls Strauss's "Death and Transfiguration." Yet the impact of the piece is partially dependent on the listener's familiarity with previous, less polished and fully "orchestrated" versions of the composition. Soon, the textures of the program tend to overwhelm individual soloists and even Mingus. In terms of a final result doing justice by each of the personalities in the ensemble while representing in full the character of the leader, Mingus inarguably falls short of his hero, Ellington.

All the same, the textures and scale are in themselves a wonder, and the saxophones of the ageless James Moody and the noble (if wronged) soldier Bobby Jones are added "clinchers" to this fascinating, if not essential, recording. Looking at Amazon's current price for this item and factoring in a tax and postage-free transaction, I'd be surprised if you found many better values on Amazon. But don't take it for granted. Some of Ellington's best music is currently unavailable. In the "culture" of the present, as Mingus himself sensed, there are major obstacles to being heard. Why not pick up a boxful of these and hand them out to young people in exchange for a promise to give up some of the time devoted each day to the Xbox, iPhone, and Face Book. (I know--what to do about the problem of the suddenly obsolescent CD player?) As loud, omnipresent, and inescapable as the "medium" has become, Mingus was enough of a maverick to believe there's still a message that needs to be heard. Some of us are old-fashioned enough to agree with him.

Let My Children Hear Music Overview

Ambitious is perhaps the best way to sum up this 1971 large-ensemble recording. It hearkens back to Black Saint and the Sinner Lady in some important respects--chiefly the sense of vertical sprawl in the tunes, the sheer presence of so many instruments doing so much at the same time. It also importantly pointed to the omnipresence of Duke Ellington as an orchestral influence. Mingus scores the baritone sax the way Ellington had done, as part rhythm, part road marker, and part stir stick for the swirls of energy generated on tracks like "Hobo Ho." The sessions for Let My Children remain blurred as far as detail goes, but it's clear that James Moody and Bobby Jones do spectacular jobs soloing amid a dense crowd of ensemble movements and passages. And the version of "The Shoes of the Fisherman's Wife" is so heartfelt and moving that you almost miss the monumental complexity of the piece. --Andrew Bartlett

    DJ Vs Live Music

Music is the lifeblood of any party. It is one thing, people, dancing on their chairs or just sit, relax, and the mood for a really good time. There are many ways of making music in the background. The setting is important if, as the music is presented. For example, if you are planning a bar mitzvah, engagement, wedding or a dance, decisions are taken, as the partyThe music presented.

Another option is to choose a band playing live music. Both options are good, but some options are better than others, and we are here to advise them on it.

In deciding between the 2 are some things to consider that cost. A live band will cost up to $ 1500Dollars, depending on the tape recognition in the Community or the State, and especially not a singer, in addition to a separate fee that could be.
